Solway Bend Hike, Sponsored by TCWP, AFORR, and TWRA - Sept 26, 2004

Solway Bend is one of the "Three Bends Scenic and Wildlife Management Refuge Area," about 3,000 acres of diverse field and woodland along the Melton Hill Lake shoreline on the DOE Oak Ridge Reservation. This land was placed by DOE under the management of Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency for long-term management, renewable in 2006. During this outing, 50-60 people were guided on an excursion into this seldom-opened bend by TWRA's Jim Evans and well-known botanist Larry Pounds.
