One of the best wildflower spots in Oak Ridge is starting to be consumed by invasive species. To combat this encroachment, TCWP will lead an effort on Saturday, November 16, to clear out the invasives starting to cover this amazing spot on the North Ridge Trail. In the spring this area is covered in trout lilies, trilliums, spring beauties, and much more.
We’ll meet for the cleanup at 9 a.m. at the Walker Access to the North Ridge Trail entrance, which is down N. Walker Lane off W Outer Drive. Parking is limited on the street, but more parking is at the Oak Ridge Children's Museum. There is a steep slope to get to the main area, so wear sturdy shoes and bring hiking poles if needed. After our work (around noon), TCWP will provide a pizza lunch.
Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothes, and bring water, gloves, and clippers, loppers, or bow or pruning saws, if possible. Other tools and equipment will also be available at the worksite. A pizza lunch will be provided. For more information, contact Margaret
