From Your Backyard to Our Wilderness: TCWP’s Conservation Efforts

August 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Oak Ridge Public Library’s World Wise Wednesdays presents From Your Backyard to Our Wilderness: TCWP’s Conservation Efforts
Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning (TCWP) has a long history of preserving our wild lands and waters through protection, advocacy, stewardship, and education. Ms. Manning will share highlights of the impact TCWP has had on protecting and advocating for our wild lands and waters. This often involves alerting citizens to threats to our wild areas and inviting them to join us in taking action to mitigate and ultimately end those threats.
One such threat is the encroachment of invasive species of plants into your gardens and our wild spaces. TCWP provides volunteer opportunities at two of our stewardship areas to remove invasive species, paired with education to teach you to identify the good, the bad, and the very ugly in your own yards and gardens.
TCWP recently launched a pilot program called “Explore and Restore,” aimed at eliminating a threat for our children known as “nature deficit disorder.” Learn how you can help with this effort.
Light refreshments provided. Q & A to follow.
